Cool Pictures

There isn't much rhyme or reason to this blog. I just had some pictures I wanted to share, and decided to quit waiting until I had time to do it up right. So HERE GOES!

Our family went geocaching this summer before we moved from Utah. This is a cool shot Taft captured with his camera and a tripod.

Here is Seph at the State Fair. We went to the pig races, and Seph got chosen to represent his group. If his pig won, he got to do a pig dance and get a pig nose. His pig won.

Felicity has started snapping pictures of Aurora, and does an amazing job of getting cute shots. Aurora has even started posing for Felicity!

Aunt Tami is really good at carrying her camera around, which almost makes up for the fact that I never remember. She captured this shot of Bora the Lion on Halloween.

I'm having more trouble than usual posting my pictures, so I may have to give up for tonight.

Bora and I go on a play date

I just got back from a very fun trip to California. I went to visit my friend Tierney. We had a fabulous time eating out and playing with our babies. We both commented that we hadn't expected the babies to interact very much, but we were very wrong. Bora and Azzy (short for Astrid) spent every waking minute together.
If one got food, the other wanted food. If one had a toy, the other wanted to see it too. They were really quite good about passing toys back and forth, and they only took each other down a few times. Here are some of the pictures I was able to catch in between dead batteries. (I think my camera is starting to die, so it uses batteries like crazy.)

At one point I told Tierney I was worried I'd forgotten something.
She said, "Bring the baby. anything else we can get out here."
Ok--The baby is packed!

Azzy is old enough to face forward in her car seat, but Bora isn't yet. It made it very fun for the girls, because they could socialize in the car. They would sit and jabber at each other. Tierney caught a super cute video of them singing together on her blog. You can click on her name to the right in my blogging buddies list.

Our first order of business was to go for Indian food in Pasadena--Tierney, her friend Jan, and I all love Indian food. We all agreed the almond kheer was exceptional. The babies loved it. Of course the babies also loved the spicy stuff too! We have such adventurous babies!

While in Pasadena, we stopped into a fun little artsy shop. My favorite display was outside the shop, where they had hung hundreds of magnifying glasses from the arbor. It looked very cool. (Much cooler than in the picture, but the picture is still pretty.)

We also had Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Armenian food. I liked it all except the sushi. I'm just not sophisticate enough to deal with the raw fish yet. Bora and Azzy liked the tempura.

I have decided that Japanese food is all about the presentation. This dessert was beautiful to look at. It is also pretty much life-size in the picture.

We took the babies to the beach. It was a first-time experience for both babies. Azzy, as a true California Girl, took to the water immediately. Check out the darling curls at her neckline.

Bora was getting sleepy-ish, and wasn't as enthusiastic. She looked very cute in her baby rash-guard bathing suit, so I snapped this picture in the sand--it was warmer.

Just to prove I was there too, Jan snapped a picture of me with Bora in our cool shades.

We had a very nice time. I will blog more about our adventures later.

Thanks Tierney and Azzy!

Boys Babysitting Bora

I dropped Felicity off somewhere this morning, and lost track of time talking to another parent while I was there. I'd left Aurora home with the boys, and when I realized how long I'd been gone I hurried home, expecting her to be upset and the boys to be frazzled.
Instead, I came in to see both boys playing video games while also "dancing" to the music with Bora, who was enthroned on the bean bag chair. I asked if everything had been ok, and they said, "Yes, she just woke up. Come see the pictures."
Evidently she just conked out without any warning or fuss (which she won't do for me.) The boys thought it was so cute they captured it on film for me.
From the top. Talk about flexible!

From the Front. Look--she actually has hair now!

A nice side view

Seph posed the monkey, but Bora posed the feet.

I am always amazed at how babies can sleep just any old way.

Tennis at the park: A Brag Blog

It is late at night, and I am too tired to write any extremely clever captions, but I wanted to share some photos.

Taft is playing Junior High intramurals tennis. I am very impressed with him, because he has only had about 6 tennis lessons in a big group class through the community school, but when the junior high offered a tennis team, he jumped right in and gave it a try.

I was always too worried about failure to do that as a teen, so I'm very proud of him. We went to his first game, and started messing around with the camera. Ironically, we didn't get any decent pictures of Taft. First he was busy trying to figure out where to be and who to be partners with, then I couldn't get any pictures through the chain link fence. But I got these fun shots:
Behold, the Tennis Ball! I think this is Seph's hand, but I will have to double-check with the kids. I don't remember who took the picture.

I absolutely positively completely thoroughly love this picture. These are the silly sisters, Felicity and Aurora.

Sweet Seph is very good to our baby girl. She adores her brothers and her sister. I try to get pictures of the older kids just on their own, but that silly baby somehow keeps ending up in most of the shots.

I don't usually like pictures of myself, but I like this one. I just barely got a new haircut, so this picture is a little out of date, but this will simply be a "before" shot. I'll be adding a picture of my new "do" soon.

Here is one picture of Taft on the court. He looks so darn handsome in his tennis uniform that it about takes my breath away. I'm going to get decent pictures at the next game. I am very very very thrilled to be the mother of Taft, Seph, Felicity, and Aurora.

Beautiful Easter Weather

The weather has been bleary & cold, and all I've wanted to do all week is curl up under the covers. Then Easter Sunday bloomed sunny and gorgeous.

We had a low-key Easter this year. I didn't even make it to the store to buy stuff for the baskets until about 10:00 pm on Saturday. Oops. After church we hid the baskets in the back yard. I wanted pictures of everyone in their nice Sunday clothes. Here we are in the living room getting the baskets and ourselves ready.

Seph waiting patiently:

Felicity putting on pretty purple makeup to match her dress:

Aurora emptying baskets faster than I can fill them:

Marden was in charge of hiding the baskets this year, and he stuck Taft's on top of the blackberry tangle, Seph's hanging from a limb of the apple tree, and Felicity's burrowed in the grass under the trailer topper. Aurora's we placed right in front of her, because her challenge was to crawl to it.

Taft filled us in on the thought process he went through. First he thought, "Do I have to be filmed?" Then he thought, "Do I have to hunt for my basket?" Then he thought, "What the crap, my basket is clear up in the blackberry bramble. I get it!! This is for THEIR amusement!"

He's totally right! We were busy catching it on video, so we only got a few pictures at the end. The sun was in everyone's eyes, so we get what we get.
